The 2017 AGM
This was held at Dunnhumby in Shepherds Bush Road on Monday 6th November and was chaired by Jason Eker (co-chair of FBG). The agenda focused on the activities of the 6 working groups: Tennis; The Playground and Pavilion; The Green & Little Brook Green; Horticulture; Trees; Social Events. A seventh working group covering Communications has been set up and this group will meet for the first time in mid-November.
Thanks to the 36 Friends who attended the AGM and to Dunnhumby, in particular to Dominique Evans, who helped us with organisation of the event.
Robert Jennings, who stood down as co-chair, was thanked for all he had done for FBG. He will remain a Director of FBG and will continue as Treasurer.
John Higgins, who chose not to offer himself for re-election, was also thanked for his hard work as a Director over many years. Melanie Honnor, who resigned earlier in the year, was also thanked.

Our local PC
You may have heard that Martin Pryce, who has done so much for Avonmore and Brook Green, is moving to Addison. We would like to thank Martin for his support and he knows he is always welcome to ‘join us for a cuppa’ at the Pavilion Kiosk. We look forward to welcoming Martin’s replacement.
The Pavilion Kiosk
The Pavilion Kiosk has been operational for a year and the Corner House Café, who manage the outlet, has welcomed the questionnaire developed by Jackie Duff who is the new FBG co-chair. The aim of the questionnaire is to find out what you like about the Pavilion Kiosk and what you think can be improved.
The questionnaire was made available at the AGM, thank you to all of you who have already provided feedback. You can access the questionnaire on-line at the FBG websitewww.friendsofbrookgreen.org or we have printed some and these are available at the pavilion kiosk.
The completed questionnaires should be returned to 14 Brook Green or sent by email attachment to hello@friendsofbrookgreen – the deadline is Friday 1st December.
If you haven’t tried the Pavilion kiosk you might want to take advantage of the special offer in the attached flyer. This gives you 15% off take away soups and toasties between 12 pm and 3 pm until Thursday 30th November.
The Green
If you would like to play your part in enhancing Brook Green, join Donatella Goretti who will be organising a second bulb planting session on Sunday November 26th (meet at the Pavilion on Brook Green at 10.00 am). Families are welcome but please note that children must be supervised at all times. Stay for an hour or as long as you want. Please bring gardening gloves and snacks to share if you are staying until 1.30 when the session will finish.
Little Brook Green – Christmas trees
We are pleased to let you know that Shoots and Leaves Christmas Tree outlet will be back on Little Brook Green from Saturday, November 25th. To ensure that the new path remains accessible, Hew at Shoots and Leaves is planning to locate the outlet closer to the slip road in front of Dunnhumby. He will re-seed the grass after use.
Olympia station and Olympia
The new owners of Olympia are launching a campaign to restore a full tube service to Kensington Olympia station. If you would like to find out more about this campaign, there is a meeting at Olympia London on Monday 20 November, 6.30-7.30pm. There will be a public consultation about the future of Olympia over three days (21st, 22nd and 23rd of November between 4pm and 8pm) in the Upper Pillar Hall. Pillar Hall can be accessed via the Pillar Hall entrance which opposite the station on Olympia Way. Hammersmith Christmas market
LBHF is organising the first ever Hammersmith Christmas Market on Saturday 2nd December. There will be over 100 stalls along a traffic free King Street and in Lyric Square.
The 2018 inter-street quiz
Looking ahead to next year, the details of the 2018 FBG Quiz have now been confirmed. It will be held on Wednesday, 7th February at Bute House School starting at 7pm. We’re inviting anyone who wants to take part to put together a group of 10 people representing their street, mansion block or maybe local business or community group. The cost is £35 a head and includes all wine and beer. You will also need to provide food for your table – normally this is split between the participants on each table who will make a starter, main course and pudding. This year we’re hoping to make the event better than ever – there will be a raffle with many prizes donated by local restaurants and businesses. In addition, there’s the chance to show-off your brainpower and local knowledge and win the coveted FBG Cup.
