Volunteers needed for the local Foodbank

H&F Foodbank need volunteers to help out – specifically people with cars to deliver food packages around the area from the main distribution centre at Olympia.   Anyone able to help will need to obtain a DBS certificate, which will confirm whether you are able to deliver to potentially vulnerable people.
There are two ways to get a DBS certificate:
1) via the GOV.UK website https://www.gov.uk/request-copy-criminal-record – this costs £23
or
2)  via one of the third party organisations such as https://dbs-online.org.uk/covid-apply – they charge £36 but say they are quicker.
Once the DBS check comes through then please email the Foodbank directly – info@hammersmithfulham.foodbank.org.uk and they will confirm with you which of the two shifts (morning or afternoon) is convenient.

The market is staying open. We will be opening an extra day a week from next Wednesday 8th April. From then on it will be every Wednesday and Saturday. Time to be confirmed for Wednesday but it will be at the same place. You can still get a wide range of products including Organic, biodynamic and naturally grown fruit and veg. There will be 3 farmers at the market as of this Saturday. Wild Country Organics are back.

Please note the market will be open from 9-10 am for the elderly and vulnerable. Please don’t all rush in at 10am there will be plenty. Please come later throughout the day and please limit the number of people that come from one household. Please only touch what you buy, don’t touch food and put it back. If you have any symptoms like coughing or a temperature please stay away. Maybe ask a neighbour if they can help or call us and we will see what we can do.

The market is open air with plenty of space so one can keep a distance from other people. Please can you try to keep a distance of to 2m from each other. The food is direct from farms, and small producers. The children’s climbing areas are closed so please don’t use them. You can wash your hands at the market. Friends of Brook Green annual inter-street quiz 2020

The annual Friends of Brook Green inter-street quiz & raffle took place at Bute House School on Thursday 13th February. Over 160 residents representing local streets, businesses and mansion blocks took part in what was a fun but competitive evening. Susannah Frieze’s questions were, as always, wide ranging and challenging. Our thanks to Finlay Brewer who once again sponsored the event, and did very well in the quiz. The raffle is always one of the highlights of the evening and our thanks to the many restaurants and local businesses who kindly donated raffle prizes. Finally congratulations to Poplar Grove who regained their title as the Friends of Brook Green inter-street quiz champions.
